Rahila is a Director of EMRC with over 16 years’ experience in the power sector and leads our team in West Africa. She has an unrivalled knowledge of all aspects of the Nigerian power sector.

Rahila provides ongoing support to distribution companies in the Nigerian power sector. She has led cost of service and tariff studies for nine of the eleven distribution companies. She is currently managing energy demand studies to support three distribution companies in developing their approach to electrification. Rahila has led the development and delivery of a number of our training courses for distribution companies, including loss reduction strategies.

She also leads our advisory services to Nigerian generation companies. This has included advising successful bidders as part of the ongoing privatization of generation assets. She has also led feasibility studies, market assessments, evacuation studies and financial modelling for the developers of new independent power plants (IPPs).

She has supported the developers of new solar IPPs and provided a market assessment for solar power, including evaluating the key issues of dynamic load flow analysis of the local network to ensure its stability and the logistics involved in transporting the PV equipment to remote locations in Northern Nigeria.

She previously worked for the Presidential Task Force on Power and held advisory positions to Ministers of the Power Sector. She was also a core member of the BPE Electric Power Team driving the Nigeria power sector reform programme.
