Consultant Analyst, Power Sector and Infrastructure Advisory

The Opportunity:

EMRC is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented and commercially aware Consultant Analyst to support its growing portfolio of power-sector and infrastructure advisory assignments.

The successful candidate will work with project managers and senior consultants to develop proposals, coordinate projects, analyse technical and operational information, support power-system and infrastructure studies, review regulatory and commercial issues, and prepare clear client-ready outputs.

The role provides exposure to different areas of the electricity sector, including utility performance, energy access, tariffs, power-sector regulation, renewable energy, embedded generation, battery energy storage, power-project development and electricity-market reform.

Your Role:

  • Support studies relating to distribution networks, embedded generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems, energy access and other power-infrastructure projects
  • Interpret single-line diagrams, network schematics, technical drawings, equipment specifications, utility reports and other engineering documentation
  • Support power-system planning, load forecasting, integrated resource planning, feasibility studies, technical due diligence and utility performance-improvement assignments
  • Undertake basic engineering and performance analysis covering demand, capacity utilisation, energy balances, technical and commercial losses, reliability and asset-performance indicators
  • Review grid studies, energy audits, project designs, implementation plans and technical reports to identify data gaps, assumptions, risks and practical implications
  • Support site visits, technical surveys, stakeholder validation sessions and the documentation of findings and action points
  • Research and review electricity-market laws, regulations, grid and distribution codes, tariff orders, market rules and sector policies relevant to client assignments
  • Combine technical findings with regulatory, commercial and financial considerations to develop practical recommendations
  • Prepare clear reports, presentations, briefing notes, data summaries, proposals and analytical tools for internal and client use
  • Translate complex engineering and sector analysis into concise findings and recommendations for decision-makers
  • Support stakeholder engagement, project tracking, quality assurance, proposals and other business-development activities

Your Profile:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Studies or another relevant discipline
  • At least two years of relevant experience in consulting, energy, infrastructure, finance, research, utility operations, project development, regulatory analysis or a related field
  • A strong interest in Nigeria’s electricity sector, energy access, utility transformation and infrastructure development
  • Experience preparing analytical reports, presentations, research outputs or professional advisory documents
  • Experience in electricity utilities, tariff analysis, infrastructure finance, financial modelling or project development would be an advantage
  • The ability to understand electrical parameters, network configurations and power-system information, and to perform sound basic engineering calculations
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data cleaning, structured analysis, charts, validation and quality checks, including work with incomplete or inconsistent data
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare professional and client-ready documents
  • The ability to review laws, regulations, tariff orders, project documents, technical reports and financial information
  • Strong research, technical-writing and business-writing skills, with good numerical accuracy and attention to consistency
  • Familiarity with tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, HOMER, GIS, Power BI or Python would be an advantage
  • Structured thinking and practical problem-solving ability.
